The Association seeks to represent the interest of its members in the building and construction industry within Victoria thereby providing a voice for the walls and ceilings industries.
Providing industrial relations, training and occupational health and safety services to members the Association also enables members to present a combined voice in dealing with manufacturers, suppliers and unions on any issue affecting their businesses.

AUSTRALIAN STANDARDS UPDATE
The recent review of the AS/NZS 2589: 2007 was published late in 2007 after considerable delays.
This edition incorporates major changes as listed below:-
- The AS/NZS 2589:2007 is the amalgamation of AS/NZS 2589.1:1997, Gypsum linings in Residential and light Commercial Construction- Application and finish & AS/NZS 2589.2: 1997, Fibre-reinforced gypsum plaster.
- Inclusion of a number of design specifications.
- The inclusion of Commercial Construction.
- Rationalization of Levels of finish.
- The simplification of formatting.

New safety rules for construction from 1 July 2008
In Victoria, health and safety in the construction industry has been regulated through the OHS Act and a number of hazard-specific regulations, such as those for falls prevention and plant, but not through construction-specific regulations.
